Boarding

When reserving kennel space, it is imperative to tell us of any health and/or behavioral issues, pre-existing or new, so we may better care for you pet. Remember that boarding space and transportation space fill quickly. Please make your reservations well in advance for peak boarding periods, for example: summer and major holidays.

Our “Bark n' Ride” Service

Shady Springs provides pick-up and delivery services to Baltimore, Washington DC and surrounding counties for your convenience. We use climate controlled vehicles to safely transport your pets in their own private crate. Learn more »

Playtime

Dogs are social animals and need positive interaction and stimulation. At Shady Spring, we stress the importance of the human animal bond by offering playtime with a counselor. Our one-on-one exercise and play sessions help your dog stay happy and healthy while you’re away. Learn more »

Accommodations

We have private, spacious indoor/outdoor kennel runs for dogs and a private cattery for our feline guests. We are happy to board your canine family together at your request.

• We monitor your pet’s eating and elimination habits as well as their kennel behavior
• Our credentialed staff provides minor first-aid if necessary
• We make every effort to match your pet’s home diet. We stock most commercial brand dog foods and will serve prescription diets or special meals you provide for us (Note - for health and sanitation reasons, we cannot accept raw diets)
• Simple medications are part of your pet’s basic care—no extra charge
• Cots, cuddle tubs, blankets and special bedding for geriatric guests is provided

Pet Care and Illness Treatment

We have developed pet care protocols with consulting veterinarians for on-site treatment of minor problems such as hotspots and upset stomachs. We monitor for flare-ups of pre-existing health problems. If a serious problem arises, we immediately take your pet to our on call veterinarian if your own veterinarian is unavailable. It is extremely important that clients disclose all health issues of their pets, no matter how minor they are.

Vaccinations

We require proof of vaccinations PRIOR to your pet's arrival for boarding:

• Dogs: Rabies, 1yr Distemper**, Bordetella
• Cats: Rabies, 1 yr Distemper**

**We require current vaccinations, or current vaccination titers (valid for 1 year). 3 year distemper vaccinations are accepted but only if it is licensed and labeled 3 year by USDA. Please check with your veterinarian.
